Disco is an AI tutor for the Architect Registration Examination. This page says what it keeps about you, who else handles it, and how to take it with you or delete it. The short version: it keeps what you need to study, it sends your conversation to an AI provider to write the tutor's replies, it never sells anything, and you can delete everything yourself.
What Disco keeps
- Your account: email, first name, and a scrambled form of your password (never the password itself), or your Google account's id if you sign in with Google.
- What you tell the tutor about yourself: the division, your exam date, how you like to learn, and anything you add, such as interests for its examples.
- Your sessions: every message between you and the tutor, the questions you answered, and what each answer showed.
- Your notes and highlights, and the tutor's own notes about how you reason (the Dossier), which you can read and correct.
- Usage: how many tutor replies you used each day, to keep costs in check.
- Subscription status, if you pay: whether it is active and when it renews. Card details go to Stripe and never reach Disco.
Who else handles it
- Anthropic writes the tutor's replies. Each turn sends your conversation, what the tutor knows about you, and your progress to Anthropic's API. Each finished session is also sent once more for an independent check of the tutor's accuracy, which also notes, in general words and without your name, which ideas were hard; pooled across learners, that helps the tutor teach what people commonly get wrong. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models.
- Render hosts the site and its database, in the United States.
- Stripe takes payments and manages subscriptions.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Resend sends password-reset emails.
Each handles your data only to provide its service. Disco does not sell or rent your data, does not show ads, and uses no analytics or tracking scripts.
Cookies and your browser
One cookie keeps you signed in. Your browser also remembers a few preferences, like the dark theme and text size, on your own device.
How it is used
To tutor you: to choose what to ask next, to remember your mistakes so they come back, and to schedule reviews. The owner can see totals across all learners (for example, which concepts most people miss) to improve the questions and the teaching, and may read a session to fix a problem with the tutor.
Taking it with you, and deleting it
Under Account you can download everything Disco keeps about you, and delete your account. Deleting removes your data from the database at once and cancels any subscription. Copies in the hosting provider's backups expire on their own within a few weeks. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires.
Security
Connections are encrypted. Passwords are stored only in scrambled form, and sign-in tokens only as hashes. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affected you, you would be told.
Age
Disco is for adults preparing for a professional exam, and not meant for anyone under 18.
